North Shore Christian Network

The Client:
The North Shore Christian Network is a non-profit organization, located in Beverly, MA, that seeks to promote communication among Christians from all denominations in the North Shore region. The Network functions to support and publicize personal and group ministries.

The Problem:
Although NSCN’s founder, Bonny Loring, had successfully converted her organization from a paper-based ministry into a Web-based ministry, her Web site needed some help with content management. Because her administrative staff is not fluent in Web technologies like HTML and JavaScript, the flat, static implementation of their site caused many issues:

Control was lost waiting for technical people to make changes
Updates were made slowly
Data entry was inconsistent
Expired content filled the site
Site usage statistics were not fully understood

The Solution:
Bonny knew it was time to get some professional help. She called eWeb Interactive. eWeb Interactive immediately provided resources to maintain her site and, in parallel, develop an entirely new and customizable content management engine for the site, based on an Administrative Console.

The Administrative Console provides a friendly environment for non-technical staff to add postings, articles and other types of content to the Web in real-time. The system is intelligent enough to provide recommended field options and data entry tips for hundreds of posting types while enforcing AP writing guidelines. It also tracks submissions from NSCN's reader base and reports click-throughs and impressions from banner ads. Additionally, all content has expiration dates to prevent stale content from being displayed.

The console also has a module for home page layout. NSCN can arrange the layout of the home page, view it, change it, and then view it again—all without impacting the live site. When the home page is ready to be launched, it can be made live with the click of one button. All these actions are performed entirely by staff members who have no knowledge of Web site development.

Results:
Utilizing eWeb Interactive, the North Shore Christian Network is now able to fulfill its purposes at a much faster rate with much more precision, consistency, and control, and much less paper and email shuffling. The advantages of the new system have been immediately realized:
